We’re seeking a Senior Motion Designer with a strong creative vision and the ability to lead. This role blends hands-on design with high-level thinking—ideal for a multidisciplinary artist who thrives in both 2D and 3D, and can scale up into a director role when needed. You’ll be a core creative partner, shaping production strategy alongside producers and creative directors, guiding workflows, and mentoring the motion team. You’ll concept and execute work that spans digital canvases, immersive environments, and spatial media installations. This is a hybrid position based out of our Chicago office.

What You’ll Do

  • Concept, design, and animate high-impact motion graphics across styles—2D, 3D, illustration, photo-real.

  • Visualize immersive experiences for pitch and production (3D visualization, previz, etc.).

  • Lead production workflows from concept to delivery in collaboration with producers and creative tech teams.

  • Develop internal toolkits, workflows, and spatial visualizations for team scaling and efficiency.

  • Explore emerging tools (Unreal, Unity, TouchDesigner) and integrate them into the pipeline.

  • Manage render pipelines (cloud and on-prem), collaborating with IT and engineering leads.

  • Stay on top of trends in motion design, animation, and experiential technology.

  • Provide creative and technical oversight across multiple projects with attention to craft and efficiency.

Qualities and Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in a studio or agency environment, with a strong portfolio of diverse motion work.

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and After Effects; strong 3D skills in Cinema 4D (or equivalent); bonus for Fusion, Unreal, Unity, or TouchDesigner.

  • Deep understanding of production pipelines and post workflows.

  • Experience designing for both screen and space (installations, architecture, exhibits, retail).

  • Excellent design fundamentals—composition, typography, storytelling—and how they translate into motion.

  • Strong communicator with leadership instincts and collaborative spirit.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Motion Design, Animation, or Visual Communication.

What We Offer 

The salary range for this position is between $90,000 to $105,000, plus benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
