Designing in Alternate Realities

Since co-founding Felix & Paul Studios fourteen years ago, Félix Lajeunesse has built an Emmy Award-winning body of cinematic and interactive VR work, collaborating with President Obama, NASA, Cirque du Soleil, Eminem, LeBron James, and many others. His work explores the interplay between presence and storytelling, and VR’s unique ability to convey both intimate human moments and awe-inspiring experiences.

In this talk, Félix traces the studio’s evolution from Strangers with Patrick Watson, an intimate experience designed to be viewed at home by a single person, to Space Explorers: The Infinite, a large-scale, multi-user touring production created from three years of filming aboard the International Space Station. While the technology, scale, and ambition have transformed, the studio’s central pursuit remains the same: fusing storytelling and presence into a deeply emotional experience.

He concludes with Interstellar Arc, the studio’s most ambitious project to date, now open at AREA15 in Las Vegas. Spanning 20,000 square feet, it combines physical scenography with VR to transport audiences to the 27th century and humanity’s first interstellar exploration program, offering a glimpse of where immersive storytelling is headed next.
