AI & ML Strategy at Unity
Stewart Smith is an award winning Creative Technologist, Artist, Writer, and Speaker. Stewart serves as Vice President, Creative Technology at the Advanced Projects Group (Apogee), leveraging wisdom accrued from his years with Google, Amazon, and Unity. He’s led multi-disciplinary teams across ten time zones and bootstrapped novel products from zero-to-one. Although his career has been rooted in advanced technology, he’s educated as an artist—earning a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design from Yale University. That brand of interrogative, critical design thinking continues to inform his approach across a broad array of disciplines. As an artist, Stewart’s work has been exhibited internationally, including MoMA, SFMOMA, la Fondation Cartier, and more. He’s completed artist residencies at the ZKM Center for Art and Media, and Yale University’s Quantum Institute. As a Software Engineer, Stewart’s code has featured on Google’s Search homepage, powered LCD Soundsystem’s VR music video, and open-sourced quantum circuit design. As a Creative Technologist and Designer, his work has won Webbys, FWAs, Cannes Lions, and patents. As an educator, he’s taught graduate-level creative coding and conducted design workshops / served as a guest critic at several top-tier institutions. And as a writer, Stewart’s guested on professional blogs for AIGA, It’s Nice That, and others. What truly makes Stewart happy is partnering with smart friends to take on the impossible—or the ridiculous.
